The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications has released the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026. Apply online for Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) & Dak Sevak posts. This is a merit-based engagement, not a regular Central Government job.

  • Branch Postmaster (BPM): Responsible for Branch Post Office operations, mail delivery, and must reside in the post village.
  • Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM): Assists in postal operations, IPPB transactions, and may perform BPM duties when required.
  • Dak Sevak: Works in Post Offices, Sorting Offices, Mail Offices; handles mail, parcels, and postal transactions.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Secondary School Examination (10th standard) pass certificate from a recognised board.

Local Language Requirement

Candidates must have studied the prescribed local language up to at least 10th standard. For example:

  • West Bengal – Bengali
  • Uttar Pradesh – Hindi
  • Bihar – Hindi
  • Odisha – Odia
  • Rajasthan – Hindi
  • Tamil Nadu – Tamil
  • Telangana – Telugu
